The MHS Girls’ Track and Field team showed out at many invitational meets this year, opening the season with a win at the Merli Invitational.

They followed this by capturing the Essex County Relay Championships, with the DMR, SMR, 4x800m, and 4x400m placing first. In their 2nd place finish at Essex County Individual Championships, Darriel Whiting won the 55m, Avery McAdams won the 3200m, Ava Butler won the 200m, and the 4x400m won again.

The Girls finished 4th at Sectionals in the state tourney, with three athletes and a relay qualifying for Groups. Another three athletes and the 4x400m advanced to the Meet of Champs.

The team also showed out at the national level. 11 athletes competed individually at Eastern State Championships, and the 4x400m placed 3rd. At Nike Nationals, Cori Stewart raced in the 800m, and four of the Montclair relays also raced. The SMR placed 2nd.

Montclair will look to improve on their winning season in the Spring.
