MSN: Boys’ and Girls’ Track Meril Invitational Recap

Boys and Girls Track both opened the season with a 1st place finish at the Meril Invitational at the Bubble in Toms River.
The Boys finished first out of ten teams with 70 points. They started strong in the 400m, with Daniel Nixon finishing 1st in 53.9, followed by Tristan L’Horset (3rd) and Justin Arroyo (4th).
Other individual scorers included Alec Kuzyk’s victory in the pole vault at 13 feet, Daniel Nixon (2nd) and Jonathan Stewart (4th) in the 55m, Markus Corredor (3rd) in the 1600m, and Tylor McAuley (5th) in the Shot Put.
Montclair also won both relays on the day, placing first in the 4x800m and 4x400m.
The Girls finished first out of eleven teams with 44 points. Montclair performed strongest in field events with Marlene Heydenreich placing 2nd in High Jump and Tori Robinson (2nd) and Luciana Alicandri (6th) scoring in Shot Put.
Other individual scorers were Darriel Whiting (2nd) in the 55m and Avery McAdams (6th) in the 1600m. The girls won the 4x400m relay and placed 2nd in the 4x800m.
The team races next Sunday at the Stanner Games at the Armory.
