The Montclair Varsity Ice Hockey team was looking for a bounce-back game after starting the season 0-3. This would come in the way of a statement home win against Kearny, 6-4.

Senior Captain Luc Callanan scored early in the first, off of a pass from Senior Captain Miles Fletcher to make it 1-0. However, by the end of the first Kearny tied it.

Going into the second period it was a tight game, but the floodgates would open for Montclair on the first shift, when Sophomore Logan Brown scored to make it 2-1, with another assist from Fletcher.

The Mounties continued the pressure, and Callanan would score his second of the game with a third assist from Fletcher.

Just minutes after his second goal of the night, Callanan would get a break on a penalty kill and score his third goal to finish his hattrick.

The Mounties would score two more before the end of the second, coming from Miles Fletcher, and Freshman Daniel Gallagher. This was Gallagher’s first goal of his high school career.

After giving up 5 unanswered goals in the second, Kearny began a small comeback, scoring 3 straight goals at the end of the third period, but the Mounties would pull through and secure their first win 6-4
